A few months ago, on my previous blog, I got into trouble for saying that the further you get from a corporate head office, the better the quality of people you meet. Well it's true!
I have just spent a day with the marketing guys from MEA region (Middle East & Africa) for one of my clients and almost everyone you meet is driven, eager to learn and bright. They have more personal responsibility and authority, which must be a key factor. I guess they also are the genuine cream of the crop in their regions, where in the UK, US, France etc there are more glamorous marketing jobs to be had.
There is nothing like having little money, resources or infrastructure to get the best out of people.
